STC207 is a front shock absorber. This shock absorber mounts on the front suspension for Range Rover Classic models fitted with an anti roll bar and coil spring suspension.
The STC207 dampens vertical movement of the front wheels to control body motion and maintain tyre contact over uneven surfaces. It converts kinetic energy from suspension movement into heat through hydraulic fluid and internal valving, controlling compression and rebound to give predictable response during braking, cornering and rough ground. The absorber mounts between the lower suspension components and the body or suspension turret and transmits loads through its top and bottom bushings; seals and internal valves can wear with time, reducing damping efficiency, so replacement restores the designed damping behaviour for the front axle. Technicians should inspect mounting bushes and fasteners when replacing the unit and retain the anti roll bar attachment orientation used during removal.
