STC2878 is a Brake Servo Type 50 - 227mm 1 port - Non ABS. Fitted to Defender models without an anti-lock braking system, this vacuum servo supplies assisted braking force to the master cylinder. The Type 50 unit uses a 227mm diameter diaphragm and a single vacuum port; units of this design commonly include a non-return (check) valve aperture at the lower-right of the body. Mounted between the pedal linkage and master cylinder, the servo reduces pedal effort and provides the conventional pedal feel required for hydraulic braking systems without electronic ABS.
