Land Rover Part Number: STC4096L - Timing Belt Kit - 300Tdi
STC4096L is a timing belt kit for the 2.5L 300Tdi diesel engine. The kit contains a timing belt, idler pulley (with integrated spacer), tensioner assembly, crank pulley, front cover gasket and the associated studs, nuts and bolts required for the timing system fitted to Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic models. These components replace worn items in the timing system to restore correct camshaft-to-crankshaft synchronisation and prevent belt failure that can cause valve or piston damage. The kit also converts early-type 300Tdi timing arrangements to the later-type configuration where required; if a later-type idler is already fitted the kit is a direct replacement.
Please note: Fitting requires a timing tool kit to lock the camshaft and crankshaft; use part number DA3140. Early-type installations used a separate spacer washer that must be removed before fitting this kit because the spacer is incorporated into the idler pulley.
