SWO500040 is an ABS control module and valve kit. Fitted to the Discovery 2 braking system, the control module together with the modulator switch and valve manages hydraulic modulation for the anti-lock braking system.
The assembly monitors wheel speed inputs and commands the modulator switch and valve to vary brake hydraulic pressure during rapid deceleration. This modulation prevents wheel lock and supports directional control by applying and releasing pressure to individual wheels as required. Supplied as a kit, the control module, modulator switch and valve allow a single repair to address both the electronic controller and the hydraulic modulation components commonly replaced together when ABS faults occur. A frequent symptom of module or modulator failure on affected vehicles is illumination of the three 'amigo' warning lights on the dash; replacement of the module and associated valve components restores the ABS modulation function on fitted Discovery 2 models.
