UHB500020 is a Solenoid Control Switch for the automatic transmission used with the M62 4.4 V8. Fitted to the side of the ZF 5-speed automatic gearbox, the switch reports the selected gear position to the engine control unit (neutral, drive and other gear states). The unit is exposed on the gearbox casing and can suffer water ingress that causes contact failure or intermittent signalling; replacement restores clear gear-position signalling between the gearbox and control systems and helps correct shift logic or engine-management issues caused by faulty inputs.
